Cell Tower Application Officially Withdrawn
Liberty Towers, LLC has officially withdrawn their application with the Upper Merion Township Zoning Hearing Boarda to place a communication tower on Hughes Road. At this point in time, the GMCA is are not aware of any future plans for the site. The level of concern expressed by the community was helpful in focusing attention on this application. The GMCA was opposed to the tower. (posted June 17, 2010)

A Zoning Hearing Board meeting to hear the application for 126 Hughes Road for a variance "to allow construction and operation of a 190' telecommunications tower and related equipment cabinets" has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 19 at 7 PM at the Upper Merion Township building. Poll Workers Needed
Looking for a way to support the community? The county needs poll workers to operate the voting machines in the Gulph I district (UM Senior Center) for May 18th, Election Day. You may belong to any political party and your role will be to reset the machines after each vote. The county would prefer that you are a Gulph 1 resident and must you be an Upper Merion resident over age 17. Pay is $95 for the day which begins at 7 AM and ends at 7 PM. Date Postponed for Cell Tower Hearing
The hearing for this tower has been moved, probably till May 19th. The zoning officer will advise interested parties when he gets a firm confirmation of the May date. (posted April 21, 2010)

April 21 Set as Date for Hughes Road Cell Tower Hearing
A Zoning Hearing Board meeting to hear the application for 126 Hughes Road for a variance "to allow construction and operation of a 190' telecommunications tower and related equipment cabinets" is scheduled for Wednesday, April 21 at 7 PM at the Upper Merion Township building. In February, the GMCA Board of Directors voted to support the opposition of the construction of the planned tower.
The GMCA Board plans to attend and support the concerns of Hughes Road homeowners at that meeting. All other concerned UM residents are encouraged to attend. (posted April 12, 2010)

New Farmers' Market
A new, open air Farmers’ Market is coming soon, according to the Upper Merion Township website. It will be open Saturdays from 9am to 1pm starting May 15 and will be located at the Township building. Read more on the UMT website. (posted 3/22/10)
