BOCA Code to set forth the local health
and safety rules for homeowners

Upper Merion Township by Ordinance has adopted the BOCA Code to set forth the local health and safety rules for homeowners and occupants of homes. Of special importance (in addition to sanitation, etc.) is the requirement that each house displays the street number in such a way that it can be easily observed and readable from the public street. Each number should be at least 3 inches high and 1/2 inch wide.

I am sure we have all experienced the problem of trying to find an address while driving, and not being able to see (or find) the building numbers. aggravating - but more seriously, how about an emergency vehicle driver (police, ambulance, etc.) not being able to respond quickly enough. Could you or your family be in danger because of a delay of help because of lack of visible numbers?

Need I say more? Take a drive sometime and see if you can see your house numbers... Looking for them as if you didn't already know where they are located. Or those of family or a friend's. Maybe help someone with a potential problem.
